Stand by Tom.

Hello people how are you going?

I managed to finish paper work, yesterday, stressing massively because I had to work later that day, and Peter said he was leavind at 1:30pm. I also managed to get Jamie to fax me his actors agreement.

So the cast so far is:

Gary Peter's: Jamie harding
Karla: Elle Steele
Mr. Kelly: Roger Newcombe
Grannie: Rachelle Glynn.

Cast is wicked, shot are cut down massively. Now all I need to worry about is props, catering, costumes, minor script changes etc.
Also me and Tom had a mini adventure yesterday, I gave tom a lift to MAPS yesterday, and my car broke down right in the middle of peak hour traffic on Marion Rd. That sucked, and then on the way home the car broke down near crafers. Meaning me and Tom had to trek through the backwoods of Crafers to reach Stirling, (hence the title Stand by Tom.- yeah kinda lame now that I think of it.)

Anyway things aren't too bad at the moment but I know trouble is round the corner, Also Julia farr dropped out of Jen's The Ogre, they fuckin should have told her that 4 fuckin weeks ago!!!!!!

Anyway enjoy above picture because that is exactly what I want to do with my car right now.

cheerio

Dave.

It is the twelf hour.......the countdown begins.

Hey guys.

With less than 24 hours til we have to have all our pre for peter, we are not doing too badly. The major hiccup however has been the case of actors contracts. Our contracts don't actually give actors a lot of rights, and this was deemed unacceptable to some. Fair enough if the film makes money actors shouldn't be stiffed for their services I too would be pretty pissed off.

Anyway today was a majorly shit day to some degree. My car broke down right in front of the actors house I was visiting, I did however manage to drive it to Glen Osmond KFC, where Phil picked me up. What a legend!!!!!! He really saved my ass.

Unfortunately I can no longer use Clementine Mellor (James mellor's sis). As her schedule, and Jamie harding's schedule clash too much. This really was depressing as I really wanted to use her. Oh well next film, at another time. Thanks to james for helping me out.

As the final hours set upon us all I have to do is get two more location agreements, and two more actors agreements back. I also have to do my location breakdown sheet sheet done, and MAPS for my movement orders. Sound like quite a lot actually......crap!!!

break it down now!!!!!

The history of Dave- part 1 The Shitty life of Sam, plus early works.

Hey people

Well while I am here waiting at school I thought I would kick start telling you about my film making and creative past.

The Early works

When I was fifteen I got my first job stacking shelves at woolies, he he why would I do such a thing???? One reason to buy a camera and make movies. My first camera was a sony high 8 camera which I bought for $500, plus I got a free bag, and camera tripod. Whoo hoo instant film maker.

From this all the time I would make ridiculous films with my brother and my school chums. I even shot the 1st scene of a horrror feature film, up at the Tailem Bend Lookout. It told the story of a group of teenagers who trecked into the woods, but one by one were killed off by a psychotic ex-army vet, who was also deformed. The results were pretty funny, but I soon gave up, which was probably a big mistake, even if it sucked at least it would have been funny.

After several ridiculous films I made The Shitty Life of Sam (pictured). The film was quite terrible. I remember it screened at the ISO Bar on Hindley street but it had no sound, so eventually people just turned away back to their conversations whilst I eagerly ran around telling them to turn around and watch the screen.

he he come to think of it that's pretty much what I and evey other film maker does for the rest of their career, battle to make people turn around and actually watch your film.

chow for now.- next week The Good, the Bad, and the Clarry- an unfinished Doco masterpiece.

p.s if you would like to view my films for any insane reason just let me know.

viddy well little brothers

Welly welly well then

The 22nd of May is now just one week away. And my progress is scant at best. I am now seriously starting to doubt my chances of getting this film up annd made. I have had seriously one F*ing week to organise things. It is ridiculous!!!!!!! I will list the good, the bad, and the ugly of this project.

The Good- Have XD CAM, and possibly a monitor, and track. Have a make-up girl who is super keen, and super good it seems, I have locked down one of my four actors, I have sponsorship from Nippys. Callington Primary School seem happy to oblige and let us use their school.

The Bad- I do not have three of my actors, I heald only three auditions, I have had no calls from Actors Ink. SA Casting is still working on my project. Callington Council are feeling sketchy about letting me shoot there. The General Store is asking for money. I have no football oval. I have no catering at all.

The UGLY!- Callington Council are feeling sketchy about letting me shoot there. which could totally f me up.

he he isn't filming fun, still this is the most stressful time of the shoot other than actually shooting. Great.

Filmclass 101 (lesson 1).

Hey guys decide every now and then. (And since I am bored). I will do a review of my fave films, giving you film maker info, and reasons why it is cool.

Title: Bad Taste
Director: Peter jackson
Year made: 1987.

The Now legendary film "Bad Taste" is famous for being Peter "Lord of the Rings" Jackson's first feature. Up until then Jackson had made backyard movies with his super 8 camera. This usually consisted of copying his idols, ala James Bond, and Ray Harryhausen who was responsible for his ground breaking stop motion animation on "Jason and the Arganouts".

Although released in 1987 the film actually began production in 1983, taking Jackson 4 years to make, he would film it in dribs and drabs, using the money he made from the newspaper he worked at to pay for stock and processing.

Known for it's massive amount of gore, it was shot completely from the hip, with everything made up as they went along.

Originally titled "Roast of the Day", or "Giles Big Day Out", the film was meant to be a 12 minute short film to test out Jacksons new Bolex 16m camera that he had bought. But after years of shooting Jackson realised he had over an hours worth of footage, so he decided to rename the film and finish it off as a feature.

There are hundreds more tales to tell about the making of the film, including how jackson made his own dolly, crane, and stedicam. Or How he once got a bunch of twelve year olds who were playing on the beach to operate the camera crane when no one else turned up. Even of how Jackson not only wrote and directed, he also shot, edited, did the make up effects, produced, and even acted in the film as the part of Derek.

But although the making of the film is fasinating. I fell in love with the film for what it is, a film. I remember watching it as a twelve year old, and then thinking....Dam i can do that. Jacksons talent was amazing I thought, so what if didn't have a big budget, the special effects were good, it was well paced (with constant camera movement), and it was constantly entertaining.

Overall the film, and Jacksons style has continued to influence how I work as a film maker, because I thinnk of a film like this and what it has done for me.

best line: "Eat lead Sucka!"

til next time- Dave.

Storyboards are for the non creative

Howdy

Sorry bout lack of post and pictures. Trying to get things done. I would say this will be my last post at least until the 22nd. Had YAP Awards on friday. Cathy's tree won best screenplay, and Squeaky Clean won an award for excellence which is good.

On the production front I have already auditioned three actors, and hopefully more. The character of the old lady is pretty much locked down, the other characters who knows? Locations I have none. Have to go to Callington this week to try and get some places. The council still hasn't gotten back to me. Basically the film is under serious threat. This is really depressing. I do have a production manager from cert 4 who is going to help but there really isn't much he can do without a car.

I suppose everyone else is struggling too. Poor Dan Vink doesn't even have a freakin make- up person. Dam you all to Hell!!!!!!

Anyway see how we go, it's never meant to be easy, and if it would any schlub would do it.

Dave.(stressmaster).

the 22nd of may....bahhh!!!!

Hey guys

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while. It's just that I don't have internet access at home at the moment and the school has temporarily blocked blogger. So sorry Daniel Vink that I haven't put any posts up recently.

Anyway quick update. Got approval on the XD CAM so it's full steam ahead with that. Still have no actors and no locations. I am on massive stress at the moment because I am still trying to write the script and pull things together.

Also my script still sux a little, and it got a bit of negative feedback on thursday!!!!!! Jen, and Tom were helpful. and it made me realise the flaws of the script and characters.

anyway see how we go this week. Maybe things will look up.
